Layfayette, We Have Returned 05/05/2024

After traveling yesterday, last night, and most of the morning, we arrived in Bordeaux. We flew over on Air France.  It was a good flight, the aircraft was new, the crew was professional, they were courteous and very friendly.  The pilot handled his aircraft very well and we were comfortable behind the curtain.  It has been my experience that when you raise the gear, turn on the autopilot, and then you have a cup of coffee. Our flight was about eight hours, as I said very smooth.  The aircraft flew with the autopilot engaged for most of the flight.  At the end of every flight, the autopilot will be disengaged and the pilot will hand fly his aircraft for the landing. A smooth landing will enhance the pilots reputation, however, if the landing is a rough one, it does not matter how smooth the flight was,  the landing will always be remembered.  Our pilot made a smooth landing.  I always thought I was a pretty good lander when I was flying.

As discussed before, this trip has been planned for a long time.  French wine and French food was waiting for us in the wine capital of France.  Remember, we had been on the go for over 24 hours.  We were tired. We dropped our luggage at the hotel and went in search of a place to have lunch.  We found a cute little restaurant, Linda and Amanda picked it out.  Their special today was an Italian pasta dish with ham.  We paired this meal with a nice Italian wine from the Tuscany area.

Tomorrow will be a different story....French wines and French cuisine wait for us.

One thing more about France, the wine is world class, the food is absolutely great, and the people are exceptionally friendly.

Before turning in for the night, Linda and I went to Jonny's American Hamburgers and had our first dinner in France.

Until tomorrow.
